Classic Fudgy Brownies

These classic fudgy brownies are rich, chewy, and deeply chocolatey with a crackly top and gooey center. Perfect for chocolate lovers, they’re easy to make and ideal for any occasion—from casual get-togethers to indulgent midnight cravings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, melted

  • 8 oz (225g) dark chocolate (60–70%), chopped

  • 1¼ cups (250g) granulated sugar

  • ½ cup (100g) packed brown sugar

  • 3 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ¾ cup (95g) all-purpose flour

  • ¼ cup (25g) unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp baking powder (optional, for cakier texture)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch (20x20cm) pan with parchment paper.

  • Melt the butter and chopped chocolate together in a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler. Stir until smooth. Let cool slightly.

  • Whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and eggs until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes). Add vanilla.

  • Stir in the melted chocolate mixture until just combined.

  • Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and optional baking powder. Fold gently with a spatula—do not overmix.

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

  • Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  • Cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • For extra fudginess, underbake slightly and cool completely before cutting.

  • You can add chocolate chunks, nuts, or a swirl of peanut butter for variation.

  • Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
